Believe me, you will never associate pleated skirts with schoolgirls. In today’s post, we are going to see in schoolgirl ways of wearing pleated skirts this year. I know many schools that implement this piece of clothing as part of school uniform for gals. That’s why many ladies associate this bottom garment with a standard uniform. Everything will change next year, as I am going to show you preppy ways of making it look classy and ladylike, without looking like a student. Keep on reading to find out my favorite styling tips and tricks.
The first outfit idea that pops in my mind is the pleated skirt paired with a leather jacket and black mohair sweater. This style is an awesome way how to make preppy garment look punk and edgy. You can always get casual with a BIG thanks to denim. This combo is an ideal way how to achieve downtown vibe. You can either try on boyfriends denim jacket paired with a midi-length pleated skirt or try on a denim shirt and tuck it inside the red high-waisted knee-length skirt. Be sure, denim will give you a more rugged feel. If you wish to look ladylike and sweet, then the best way is to add a tailored buttoned-down shirt and tuck it inside your favorite pleated skirt. All you need is to add a chunky necklace and sexy clutch. Be office-ready with a nice fitted blazer. You can actually wear skirt to work. All you need is a well-tailored suit jacket and appropriate accessories. To avoid looking weird I recommend to choose long skirts. Minis can create schoolgirl feel. That’s why I highly recommend to try on midis, calf-length skirts or maxis. These are perfect lengths for creating more mature silhouette. Don’t be afraid of playing with colors. You can either try on sweet blush styles or keep things vibrant by sporting brightly printed designs.
Here we see great ways how to combine black colors with pleated skirts. My favorite looks are the one that features cropped black sweater with high-waisted pastel violet pleated skirt, as well as black sleeveless top with a white midi pleated skirt. Speaking of sweaters, you definitely should check my article about cropped sweaters, you can find lots of cool outfit ideas that can be done with cropped sweaters.
Well? I’m waiting for an answer to “why do women wear skirts?” Other than the usual worn out “I wear skirts because women wear skirts!” In the first place, the only time they wear them anymore is to brag about the fact that they have an imputed monopoly on this garment; but what I’m waiting to hear is—
“I wear skirts because only women have a waist to hang a skirt from and a pair of legs for a skirt to go around!”
Skirts are like parking places marked “reserved” in which the person the parking space is reserved for nearly never parks in it, and instead, parks in an unrestricted common area; but woe betide anyone else who dares park in the space marked “reserved.”
Of course, as long as men think of skirts as a rigid female symbol, and as long as they regard women as inferior, they’ll never wear a skirt; painting themselves into a corner, and abandoning the entire room and stage to the “inferior” sex, who proudly revels in her choices.
